MKMMA Week 19- Living In The Moment

“I will live this day as if it is my last”- Scroll V of the “The Greatest Salesman in The World”

This is subject of this month’s scroll in Og Mandino’s classic book, that we are reading three times daily.  It really resonates with me because often I am thinking of something “future-related” when I am at outings or just spending time with my family.

Through the various assignments that have been designed to make us more “aware” and cognizant of ourselves and our surroundings, I have slowly felt myself living more in the moment and enjoying life one moment at a time!

As I focus on becoming the best me in the “here and now” I can eventually drive my current self to match the greatness of my future self that I am currently manifesting!

As we live in the moment we must not relive our past nor spend too much energy focusing on the future.  Regarding living in the past, Mandino puts it succinctly:

“Can I relive the errors of yesterday and right them?  Can I call back yesterday’s wounds and make them whole?  Can I become younger than yesterday? Can I take back the eveil that was spoken, the blows that were struck, the pain that was caused? Yesterday is buried forever and I will think of it no more”

Regarding the future or tomorrow, he says:

Can I perform tomorrow’s deeds while standing in today’s path?  Can I place tomorrow’s gold in today’s purse?  Can tomorrow’s child be born today? Can tomorrow’s death cast it’s shad backward and darken today’s joy? Should I concern myself over events which I may never witness? Should I torment myself with problems that may never come to pass?  No Tomorrow lies buried with yesterday, and I will think of it no more.

The bottom line is that focusing on yesterday or tomorrow, usually prevents one from doing what needs to be done today, to bring about a positive outcome in one’s life.  Obviously, we need to learn from our past miscues and to make plans for our future’s, the key is to keep that in it’s proper balance.

As far as myself, I am definitely a “work in progress” when it comes to this!  This is why this month’s scroll is so impactful in my development.

Reading this scroll always reminds me of that scene in Star Wars where Yoda was taking Luke to task: “This one a long time have I watched. All his life has he looked away… to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. What he was doing.” I’m right there with you in being a work in progress, but getting a little better every day!

Very relevant movie scene my friend. If we take care & enjoy the present, the future will take care of itself.

Somedays I struggle with it–others I don’t! Getting better and hoping for tomorrow is always my help! and as Og says, “Fear I dismember with confidence”

“Work in progress” is a great thing to BE! It means you are observing, and then acting. Good job – and great inspiration. Thanks!
